Friday

Back at school and happier then ever. I was busy this summer attending The Illustration Academy which was one of the greatest things I've ever taken part in. I learned so much (too much!) and met some of the most incredible people/artists out there. I will post some of the work I produced there soon.

Haven't posted in a while but that will change now that I'm back on campus with loads of scanners. Scanned some sketchbook pages, which is strange for me, but here they are!...

Thursday

Self Portrait from life. oil on wood.

I don't really like the way the scan came out but oh well. I'm just letting it sit until I know what I'm going to add to it. For now this is it. I know I need a punch of a cranberry red or something in here. More color. I forgot how demanding it is to paint yourself in front of a mirror. There must be about 10 different faces under this one.
I'm really confused by this one. Any feedback would be especially appreciated with her. It's unfinished but I like where it's going, that's all I know.

Monday

The only computer ill assignment I've had fun with thus far... I still need to work on him but this is what I turned in for class...

This was the character development assignment. And he is a sad Icelandic fisherman. Depressed because he can never actually catch fish. So sad.

Wednesday

gardening books are fun...
[some collage work on wood]

Tuesday

Avant Garde is this week! I'm part of the student sellers this year. Here's a few (old and new) things I will hopefully be getting rid of there...

Thursday

So here I have Mr. Frederick Douglass in a forrest, in the presence of some fireflies. Interesting assignment given to us by Patrick Fiore (aka the man). I wanted him to look awkward/creepy and tie him into his environment. I think I achieved that. Here's the initial drawing and the final...

acrylic on slice of tree stump

Finished the Amy piece. More girls and nature. Amy's beautiful, flowers are beautiful. I like the turn out. This one was fun...
oil, acrylic, and collage...

Another spontaneous, letting the "image direct me" piece. It was fun doing this guy. I did this on 3 pieces of wood and they can be rearranged. I think it works upside down as well. If you turn your head :]. Anyway, collage, acrylic, and pencil...

This one's about memories...

Everything's a memory...

Sunday

Liepke mastercopy.
This painting taught me some things I didn't expect. And it was fun. Done. :]

Thursday

This piece was completely experimental and born from a series of random happenings. I honestly don't know what to think when I look at it. Yay or nay? What is working/not working? Help a brother out and give me some feedback.
